And yes, my last missive was less than enthusiastic. Sue me. I don't like pre-season hype.
But it didn't take long for my regular season hockey tastebuds to get fired up last night. I think it happened around the the time Matthew Lombardi scored that shorthander. Hey! Everyone loves a comeback. Especially when the comback kid is in your longshot pool!
I have to admit, though, I loved seeing Dion Phaneuf score the big slapper from Fast Phil Kessel.
A 2-0 win over the Habs? Great start. Love texting that to my Hab-loving brother and best friend.
Ok, ok. The Leaf Fan is back. At least, for a little while. I'm keeping the waffle, though. I love waffles. They're delicious.
Now, on to Saturday night. This is the sort of game that can infuriate a fan like me. The lowly (and hated) Ottawa Senators roll in to town after a game in Detroit the previous night. They should be tired and broken after playing one of the league's finest teams. But this Leafs' team or, at least, recent incarnations of it, somehow find ways to lose these games. And when you are starved for success, like we famished fans are, you hate to see your team lose these ones.
Maybe this is the year. Maybe the Leafs beat the teams they should beat. Maybe. But I'm still Missouri. Show
